About

Denise Mend is a physiotherapist who lives and practices in the south Okanagan.  After a multi-sport career including swimming, field hockey and basketball, she finished playing varsity basketball at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby,  BC where she also completed a BSC in Kinesiology.  That then led to a physiotherapy degree at University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC in 1993.

Following the birth of her first child in 1994 she and her new family moved to Naramata, BC where she and her husband Paul added another baby and put down deep roots.  They live there today and love the out door opportunities winter through summer.  Skiing, standup paddling, hiking, beach volleyball and wharf yoga (ask her about that sometime!) are all played with big fun.

Now that their kids are young adults and off at university, Denise and her husband have added more travel to the list of adventures they enjoy.

When she is at home, Denise has a clinical practice specializing in persistent pain, vestibular dysfunction and complex musculoskeletal problems.  She loves treating shoulders and hips and in a small town sees everything under   MSK classifications.  She loves continuing education, taking courses every year to enrich her knowledge and skills.  One of her favourites is the San Diego Paint Summit, a yearly symposium of experts from around the world.  She is passionate about empowering people with education and working with patients to meet their goals to move with more ease and loves the new venture with Healing Through Movement.

She is exploring different platforms to help people and the digital world is a whole new frontier!
